A set of ten notecards featuring Sunny Afternoon, oil on linen by Frank Nuderscher (1880-1959), part of the permanent collection at the State Historical Society of Missouri.

Frank Nuderscher was born in St. Louis in 1880. He studied art in Philadelphia, New York, St. Louis, and Boston, eventually becoming a leader in the St. Louis arts community. In the 1920s he set up a studio to Arcadia, Missouri, where he directed the Nuderscher School of Art and The Ozark School of Art. Throughout the first three decades of the twentieth century, he had critical and financial success with his landscapes and murals painted in a post-Impressionist “tonalistist” style.
